Set adjacent to our house in the New Forest National Park, the Studio by the Sea is the perfect base to explore the New Forest and South coast.  Only a 15 minute walk from the charming Georgian town of Lymington with its many fabulous shops, bars and restaurants and a short walk to the Wightlink ferry terminal for Yarmouth and the Isle of Wight.  Beaulieu's famous Motor Museum, Palace and Abbey are a short drive away, or enjoy a local pint at pretty Bucklers Hard while idly watching New Forest ponies and the boats bobbing on the Beaulieu river.  We are a 5 minute walk from the Solent Way, a 60 mile footpath running along the South Coast where you can walk through the salt marshes and along the sea wall to Keyhaven, or across the Forest to Beaulieu.

The picturesque  9 hole Walhampton Golf Course overlooking the Solent welcomes visitors and is a short walk away.  Horse riding can be booked at several locations locally and cycle hire is very popular in the New Forest with plenty of bike tracks to explore.  Lymington is a world renowned sailing resort with two large marinas and two sailing clubs, with yachts and motor boats available to charter.   We recommend booking in advance for all activities.   For recommended local companies click here.

We are a 15 minute walk to the sea.   Milford on Sea is the nearest swimming beach (shingle), just 15 minutes drive away.  The sandy beaches of Mudeford and historic Highcliffe castle are only 20 minutes by car.  Lymington also has a large Grade 2 listed salt-water swimming pool open throughout the summer.

The New Forest is a foodie's paradise, from country pubs to the full gastronomic experience.  We are often asked for good restaurant recommendations so have selected a few favourites to accommodate all tastes and budgets - click here for our list.  If you need any further help with choosing please do get in touch.
